This project was inspired by Casa Galileia’s special report, “The Synod on Synodality“. Our analysis of Catholic social media revealed that discussions about the Synod—an event organized by Pope Francis to discuss the Catholic Church’s presence and actions — were dominated by well-funded ultraconservative groups showing strong ability to coordinate, finance, and produce content. These groups were highly effective at spreading distorted narratives, misinformation, and attacks on the Pope.

Casa Emaús was launched as a strategic response to this challenge. We aim to mitigate misinformation among Catholic communities by training and supporting Catholic communicators. We equip them with the tools to create and share messages of hope, communion, and participation through campaigns, creative labs, and biblical-theological content.

Casa Galileia acts according to the topics from the Synodal agenda and acknowledges that the Synod’s outcomes on Synodality impact not just the ecclesial dynamics but also public agendas and the protection of fundamental rights, directly influencing democracy and socio-environmental and climate justice.
