Andréa Laís
I am from Alagoas, and I find myself at the crossroads of the Northeast, which brought me to where I am today.
I studied Social Science at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), where I also earned a master’s degree in Sociology. Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate in Social Science at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). As a religion researcher, my academic journey began with a focus on evangelical experiences at the intersection of religion and politics.
I inherited my passion for sociopolitical and feminist engagement from my family, and my activism grew from my experiences within the faith community. I’ve been a professional research and campaign advisor at Casa Galileia since 2022, working on projects that aim to preserve democracy and guarantee human rights.
In addition, I currently serve as a Religions Consultant at UNOPS for the “Nosso Chão” program, which seeks to repair the non-material damages caused by the socio-environmental disaster involving the mining company Braskem in Maceió. I am also an artist, which is another important way I express myself to the world.
